DIFROL attends the meeting of the Valdivia River Pilot Basin Council<\/h4><\/div><\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

On April 27, 2023, the first working meeting of the Promotion Group for the creation of the Valdivia River Basin Council in Los R\u00edos Region was held. This meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Environment, Maximiliano Proa\u00f1o, the Deputy Director of the General Water Directorate, Cristian N\u00fa\u00f1ez, the Governor of the Los R\u00edos Region, Luis Cuvertino, the presidential delegate of Los R\u00edos, Carla Pe\u00f1a and officials of institutions related to water issues. The main objective of this meeting was to publicize the origin of the project, which has the financial support of the World Bank, which will allow it to continue until the year 2027, and which will promote the Just Water Transition Strategy.<\/p>\n

Among the actions that are projected to be carried out are: having resources for the bill, forming the Councils at the country level, carrying out operations and funds for small-scale agriculture, and applying a model of participatory governance.<\/p>\n

DIFROL’s interest in participating in the instance was due to the binational nature of this shared basin with Argentina, which is also one of the prioritized basins within the framework of the application of the Additional Specific Protocol on Shared Water Resources between the Republic of Chile and the Republic of Argentina in 1992.<\/p>\n
