DIFROL participates in workshop “challenges of border institutions” at Arturo Prat university
On December 4th, the workshop “Challenges of Border Institutions” was held at the Santiago campus Arturo Prat University. The workshop addressed the current situation and challenges of Border Integration Committees and was organized by the Institute of International Studies (INTE-UNAP) of that university.
Attendees included the Director General of Research, Mr. Ricardo Espinaza; the Director of the Santiago Teaching and Outreach Center, Ms. Maritza Vergara; the Director of the journal Si Somos Americanos, Mr. Haroldo Dilla; and academic Ms. Camila Álvarez, who presented her dossier on cross-border cooperation. Specialists in cross-border issues also attended.
Representing DIFROL were the National Director of State Borders and Boundaries, Mr. Carlos Dettleff; The Director of Borders, Mr. Pedro Pablo Silva; the Head of the Department of Border Integration and Facilitation, Mr. Alejandro Ahumada, who gave a presentation on the current situation of the Border Integration Committees; and officials from the Border Directorate.
The event provided a critical yet productive forum for discussing the role of the Border Integration Committees in the various border dynamics across the country, as well as their challenges and opportunities.
