Gender Dialogue DIRFRON
Last Friday, August 29th, a discussion on gender equality was held, with high participation from DIFROL officials. It was organized by the Department of Borders, as part of its Director’s management commitments to foster a positive organizational environment and promote a gender perspective.
For the occasion, three special guests, experts in the field, presented their complementary perspectives. In particular, the speakers were Tatiana Rein, an academic from the Institute of International Studies at the University of Chile; Gloria Fuentes and Catalina Fernández, professionals from the Equality Policies Division of the Ministry of Women and Gender Equality; and Andrea Droppelman, Head of the Gender Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the guests discussed concepts and notions of gender perspective, and figures on research on the subject, as well as the mainstreaming of this approach in the State and its application in policies for reconciling work, family, and personal life. The objectives, scope, actions, and milestones surrounding Chile’s Feminist Foreign Policy were also presented. Finally, the work that has been done to integrate the gender perspective into the functions of this National Department of State Borders and Boundaries was described.
Finally, there was a question and answer session, in which various people raised their concerns and offered their reflections on the matter.
These types of initiatives are also justified by the Service’s efforts to comply with inclusion and respect policies in these areas.
