Grandchildren of the Demarcator Mr. Víctor Caro Tagle donate historical documentation to DIFROL
Rodrigo and Jorge Caro Cordero, grandsons of the Demarcator and Secretary of the Chilean Boundary Commission, Victor and Guillermo Caro Tagle, between the years 1895 and 1901, deliver to DIFROL historical documentation, referring to the three volumes of the Argentine Exhibition, regarding the Arbitral Award of 1902, Judgment pronounced by His Majesty King Edward VII, as arbitrator between the Republic of Argentina and the Republic of Chile, about the boundary to be drawn between both States in accordance with the Treaty of 1881 and the Protocol of 1893.
Participating in this ceremony were the National Director of State Borders and Limits (DIFROL), Mr. Carlos Dettleff, Director of Limits Mr. Samy Hawa, former Ambassador Mr. Luis Goycoolea, Legal Advisor Mr. Santiago Melo, Head of the Administrative Department Mr. Juan Esteban Muñoz, Head of the Operations Department Mr. Efraín Olivares, COMLIM Secretary Ms. Marta Mateluna and the curator of the Historical Archive of the Boundary Commission, Ms. Ana Sofía Moya.
The National Director thanked Mr. Caro Cordero and said that this historical documentation will serve as a reference for the members of the Chilean Boundary Commission as well as for people interested in researching the history of our boundaries, taking advantage of the opportunity to give some testimonies to Mr. Caro Cordero, as well as a historical review of both Mr. Victor and Mr. Guillermo Caro Tagle.
Finally, Mr. and Mrs. Caro Cordero were committed to deliver a copy of a picture of their grandfather, the Demarcator Mr. Victor Caro Tagle, which would remain in the Ingenious Alejandro Bertrand room.
