On April 29 and 30, 2022, in Lima, Perú, the Seventh Ordinary Meeting of the Permanent Mixed Boundary Commission Chile – Perú took place.
A Chilean delegation, led by Mr. Samy Hawa Arellano, President of the Chilean Boundary Commission of the National Department of State Boundaries and Border Zones (DIFROL), and composed by Efraín Olivares Godoy, Marta Mateluna, and Marcelo Luengo participated in the meeting that was presided by Ambassador Augusto Arzubiaga Scheuch, Director of Sovereignty, Boundaries, and Antarctic Affairs of the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The purpose of the meeting was to officially update the geographical coordinates of boundary posts No. 10 to 13 of the common boundary using the WGS84 reference system, based on the fieldwork undertaken in July 2021, and to program future works for the 2022/2023 period. The Permanent Mixed Boundary Commission Chile-Perú had not met in 15 years.
