The Chile-Bolivia Joint Boundary Commission carried out field work on the international border
Colchane, Chile, between July 29 and August 10, 2025, the Chile-Bolivia Joint Boundary Commission carried out fieldwork related to the review and maintenance of 18 milestones on the common international boundary, in the border sector of the Colchane commune in the Tarapacá Region, to comply with the agreements reached at the Third Extraordinary Meeting held between the two countries in April 2025.
The Chilean Delegation was composed of Delegates Marcelo Luengo Erices and Pablo Urbina Terán, Technical Operators Marcelo Asenjo Fernandoy and Patricio Puga Moreno, and drivers Pedro Bustos Carrasco and Álvaro Briones Arriagada.
The Bolivian Delegation was composed of Delegates Mr. Rubén Fernández Quisbert and Mr. Juan Carlos Camayo Uruchi, and Technical Operators Mr. Leonidas Salgado Huayta and Mr. Iván Butron Vilela.
The great value of this work by the Joint Commission lies in its reactivation after more than 25 years in which the common international boundary was not inspected, the last activity being in November 1998.
Finally, once the fieldwork was completed, both Delegations expressed their satisfaction with the objectives achieved, which has led to the continued strengthening of the relationship within the Chile-Bolivia Joint Demarcation Commission.
