XVII Meeting of the Border and Integration Committee Chile - Bolivia
On 21 and 22 July 2025, the XVII Meeting of the Chile – Bolivia Border and Integration Committee was held in Arica, chaired by the National Director of Borders and Boundaries of the State of Chile, Mr. Carlos Dettleff Beros and the General Director of Integration and Borders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia, Ms. Delia Pinto Melgarejo.
At the opening ceremony, the Director Carlos Dettleff and the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia, Mr. Elmer Catarina, emphasised the relevance of this seventeenth meeting of the Committee, highlighting its regional and community-based approach, aimed at fulfilling commitments to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the border areas.
During the meeting, a fruitful dialogue took place, addressing different matters, including integrated controls, phytosanitary issues, migration, gender, and economic development, among others.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Vice-Ministress of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Ms. Gloria de la Fuente González and the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia, who, on behalf of the delegations, fully agreed that the results of this meeting will benefit the populations of both countries.
