Department of borders presents to the central bioceanic corridor commission of the O’Higgins regional council
DIFROL’s Director of Borders Mr. Pedro Pablo Silva Sánchez together with Mr. Juan Pablo Berasaluce Ponce, geographer from the Department of Border Integration and Facilitation, took part in the technical meeting of the Central Bioceanic Corridor Commission of the O’Higgins Regional Council, held on July 29 2026, following an invitation from the chair of that body, Regional Councilor Mr. Alejandro Díaz Correa.
The Director, supported by his technical team, addressed matters related to the projects for the Las Leñas and Las Damas border crossings, the EBILEÑAS Binational Entity, and the favorable aspects offered by border integration committees, all of which represent valuable opportunities for bilateral initiatives between Chile and Argentina.
The DIFROL team also took part in the following session, which reviewed the current status and conclusions of technical studies carried out by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) for the construction of border crossings in the O’Higgins Region, led by the MOP’s Regional Ministerial Secretary (SEREMI), Mr. Carlos Astudillo Briones.
Key regional stakeholders were also invited to the session, including the Regional Administrator, the Regional Ministerial Secretary of Public Works, the Head of the Infrastructure and Transport Division, as well as representatives from the Chilean Chamber of Construction, the Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Multi-Sector Association of Entrepreneurs, with the aim of encouraging productive dialogue between central diplomatic management and the region’s local development.
