As part of efforts to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation, the Director of Boundaries, Samy Hawa Arellano, led a delegation from DIFROL’s Directorate of Boundaries—comprising professionals from the Departments of Boundary Studies and Operations—that participated in a technical meeting held at the facilities of the Military Geographical Institute (IGM).

The delegation was received by the Deputy Director of the Military Geographic Institute, Colonel Pablo Hidalgo, together with officers and professionals from the institution’s various technical areas. The session included a presentation on the IGM’s key geospatial capabilities, followed by a period of dialogue and the exchange of information on matters of mutual interest to both institutions.

During the meeting, various projects and technological developments driven by the Institute were presented, including the Integrated Spatial Information System (SIIE 3.0), the Antarctic Place-Names Viewer, the Place-Names Viewer, advances in national cartographic production, and the TREX project, aimed at strengthening the IGM’s technological capabilities.

For the Directorate of Boundaries, this engagement facilitated the pursuit of various joint initiatives aimed at strengthening technical cooperation in the fields of geodesy, cartography, geodetic infrastructure, and geographical nomenclature, thereby reaffirming both institutions’ commitment to developing reliable, high-value geospatial information for the State.

This meeting marks a new step in consolidating the collaboration between DIFROL and the IGM, strengthening technical coordination and promoting joint initiatives that contribute to the development of the country’s geospatial capabilities.
